Dr. Pimple Popper Answers The Internet's Most Burning Acne Questions

Publish date: 2024-10-08

If you're going to ask an expert all your most urgent acne questions, said expert should probably go by the nickname Dr. Pimple Popper. Sandra Lee, a board-certified dermatologist and star of her own TLC show, stars in our latest episode of Derm Reacts to answer everything you ever wanted to know about acne.

Lee isn't just the internet's most famous dermatologist, she's also the owner of SLMD, a line of pro-level skincare designed to address common skin issues. Her latest invention is the just-launched SLMD Resurfacing Acne Swipes. The pre-soaked pads contain salicylic, lactic, and glycolic acid to resurface skin and gently exfoliate skin.

Lee is a huge fan of acids—particularly glycolic—if you're someone who suffers from the notoriously hard-to-treat dry skin with acne. "Usually people with oilier skin are more prone to acne because that oil, that sebum we create on our skin, is one of the participants in acne," she says in the video. "A lot of acne medications are specifically targeted to decrease the oil production in our skin. The key part is really knowing what products dry out your skin more. I would concentrate more on glycolic and salicylic acid because those are exfoliants that get rid of the dry skin layer but they won't dry out your healthy skin cells."

Watch the rest of the video above to learn Lee's expert advice regarding cleansing wipes, the cure for blackheads, peel-off masks for acne, and whether or not injecting pimples with cortisol is right for you.
